Verstappen Dominates Canadian GP Qualifying
Dutchman takes eighth pole of season
Red Bull's Max Verstappen has taken pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix, the Dutchman's eighth pole of the season.
Verstappen in command
Verstappen was in dominant form throughout qualifying, setting the fastest time in all three sessions. His closest rival, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, was over half a second behind in second place.
Leclerc penalized
Leclerc will actually start the race from the back of the grid, after being penalized for impeding other drivers during qualifying.
Sainz also penalized
Sainz, who finished third in qualifying, will also start from the back of the grid for the same reason.
Tsunoda penalized
Tsunoda, who finished eighth in qualifying, will also start from the back of the grid for using too many engine components.
Race day
The Canadian Grand Prix will take place on Sunday, June 19th. Verstappen will be the favorite to win the race, but Leclerc and Sainz will be hoping to make up for their grid penalties.
